According to the APM, meaningful healthcare reform requires long-term planning rather than short-term interventions, stressing that sustained investment in personnel, infrastructure and medical technology remains critical to improving patient outcomes.
The party therefore called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Government to treat the situation as a public health emergency by immediately recruiting additional healthcare workers, upgrading public hospitals with modern medical equipment, ensuring uninterrupted availability of quality drugs and implementing sustainable reforms capable of delivering accessible and efficient healthcare services to all residents.
It warned that Lagos cannot continue to project the image of a world-class mega city while its public healthcare system remains overstretched and under-resourced.
“A healthy population is the foundation of a productive and prosperous society,” the statement concluded, urging the government to place the welfare of citizens at the centre of its development agenda.
