Leading aspirant for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emmanuel Adebola Sofela, has successfully concluded his screening exercise before the party’s national screening committee in Abuja.

The screening, which took place on Friday, May 9, 2026, is part of the APC’s internal processes ahead of the forthcoming elections and marks a significant milestone in Sofela’s quest to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Sofela expressed confidence in the outcome of the screening while reiterating his unwavering commitment to the people of Ogun Central. He assured party members and constituents that his aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to provide purposeful leadership, quality representation, and impactful legislation that would improve the lives of the people.

According to him, the district deserves a representative who understands the yearnings and aspirations of the people and is prepared to champion policies that will promote development, economic growth, youth empowerment, and social welfare.

“I remain committed to the progress and development of Ogun Central Senatorial District. My mission is to offer selfless service, attract meaningful projects, and ensure effective representation for our people at the National Assembly,” he stated.

Sofela also appreciated the leadership of the APC for ensuring a transparent and credible screening process, describing the exercise as smooth and professional. He commended party faithful and supporters across the district for their continued encouragement, loyalty, and confidence in his aspiration.

Political observers within Ogun State have continued to describe Sofela as one of the frontline contenders in the race, citing his grassroots connection, leadership qualities, and growing acceptance among party stakeholders and residents across the senatorial district.

Supporters who accompanied the aspirant to Abuja expressed optimism about his chances, noting that his vision and track record have positioned him as a strong voice capable of advancing the interests of Ogun Central at the federal level.

As the APC prepares for the next phase of its electoral process, attention is expected to remain focused on the Ogun Central Senatorial contest, which many analysts believe will play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape of Ogun State ahead of the general elections.
