The political camp of the member representing Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, has strongly refuted rumours alleging that the lawmaker is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to either the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in pursuit of a fresh electoral mandate.

In a statement issued by the Media and Strategy Unit of Hon. Dr. Elegbeji APC Political Groups, Remo Federal Constituency, the allegations were described as “baseless, reckless and sponsored falsehood” allegedly being propagated by a political commentator identified as “Omo Ebute” and his associates.

The group categorically denied any intention by the federal lawmaker to leave the ruling party, insisting that she remains fully committed to the APC and its ideals.

According to the statement, Hon. Elegbeji, who currently represents Remo Federal Constituency under the APC platform, remains loyal to the party and intends to continue her political career within its fold.

“There is no vacancy, no discussion, no plan and no intention to decamp,” the statement declared, adding that the lawmaker remains “the authentic candidate of the APC in Remo Federal Constituency.”

The political group argued that the rumours were being circulated by political opponents seeking to create confusion among party members and constituents.

The statement further alleged that those behind the reports were motivated by personal political ambitions and frustration over their inability to gain public support in the constituency.

“We know the game. When a representative is working and the people are happy, those who lost out will manufacture lies to cause confusion. This is not politics; this is desperation,” the group stated.

Reaffirming the lawmaker’s loyalty to the APC, the organisation noted that Dr. Elegbeji remains a committed supporter of the administration and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party leadership at both state and national levels.

The statement maintained that there was no political advantage in leaving the APC, which it described as the dominant political force in Remo Federal Constituency.

“Dr. Elegbeji is a product of APC ideology. She believes in the Renewed Hope Agenda and continues to work with party leaders to attract more dividends of democracy to Remo people,” the statement added.

The group also appealed to APC leaders and supporters across Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North Local Government Areas to disregard the rumours and remain focused on ongoing developmental and empowerment initiatives being championed by the lawmaker.

It assured party stakeholders that the federal legislator remained committed to the trust reposed in her by APC members and constituents.

The statement concluded with a warning against the spread of what it described as false information capable of misleading the public, reiterating that Hon. Elegbeji remains firmly rooted in the APC.

“The mandate continues, the work continues, and the party continues,” the statement said.

The development comes amid increasing political activities and early permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political actors across Ogun State positioning themselves for future contests.
