The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has paid glowing tribute to women for their immense contributions to community development, leadership and nation building as the world commemorates International Women’s Day.
In a goodwill message released on Saturday to mark the global celebration, the council chairman described women as pillars of strength whose resilience, perseverance and dedication continue to shape families, communities and institutions across Sagamu and beyond.
Odulate noted that women play critical roles in virtually every aspect of society, from nurturing families to driving economic activities in markets, classrooms, workplaces and public service.
According to him, the achievements and sacrifices of women deserve recognition and celebration, as their contributions have continued to inspire progress and transformation within communities.
He emphasized that women across Sagamu have consistently demonstrated leadership and commitment in various sectors, including commerce, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and community service.
“From the women leading in our homes, markets, schools and offices, to those shaping communities through service and enterprise, your contributions continue to move our society forward,” the chairman stated.
Odulate also reaffirmed the commitment of the Sagamu Local Government administration to promoting policies and initiatives that support women’s empowerment, protection and inclusion in all sectors of development.
He stressed that empowering women remains essential for sustainable community growth, noting that societies flourish when women are given opportunities to thrive and contribute meaningfully.
“As a government, we remain committed to supporting policies and initiatives that promote the growth, protection and inclusion of women in every sector. When women thrive, our communities prosper,” he said.
The chairman further encouraged women to continue striving for excellence while mentoring younger generations to become responsible leaders and contributors to society.
International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, highlights the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while advocating gender equality and women’s rights worldwide.
Odulate concluded his message by appreciating the resilience, dedication and impact of women, while urging the community to continue supporting initiatives that promote gender equity and women’s advancement.
“Today, we celebrate your achievements, honour your sacrifices and appreciate the countless ways you continue to shape a better society,” he added.
He wished women across Sagamu, Ogun State and Nigeria a fulfilling and inspiring International Women’s Day celebration.
