As Muslims and Christians across Nigeria begin the sacred observances of Ramadan and Lent today, an aspirant for the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Alhaji Sheriff Adeola Olabode, has felicitated with Muslims and Christians as they observe the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
Olabode, who is seeking to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, described the twin religious periods as a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.
In his message issued on Wednesday, the APC chieftain urged adherents of both faiths to use the fasting periods to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
His words "Ramadan and Lent" teach the values of sacrifice, patience, humility, and love for humanity, which are essential for building a just and harmonious society.
“Ramadan and Lent remind us of the importance of selflessness, compassion for the less privileged, and total submission to the will of God. This is a period to strengthen our faith and pray earnestly for our state and nation. "
The rep. aspirant called on Muslims and Christians to observe the holy seasons with sincerity, tolerance, and mutual respect while extending kindness to one another irrespective of religious differences.
Olabode, therefore, encouraged residents to remain law-abiding and committed to community development, stressing that unity and collective prayers are vital to achieving lasting peace and sustainable growth.
