As Muslims and Christians across Nigeria begin the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent on February 18, 2026, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, has extended warm felicitations to constituents in Ifo and Ewekoro Federal Constituency, calling for unity, tolerance, and renewed commitment to spiritual and national development.
In a goodwill message released on Wednesday, the lawmaker, who represents the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of Nigeria, congratulated Muslims on the commencement of Ramadan and Christians on the beginning of the Lenten season, describing the simultaneous observance as “a rare and powerful moment for reflection, sacrifice, and shared values.”
Isiaka emphasized that both periods, though observed by different faiths, promote similar virtues such as self-discipline, compassion, charity, and peaceful coexistence. He urged residents of Ifo and Ewekoro to use the sacred season to pray for the constituency, Ogun State, and the nation at large.
“Ramadan and Lent offer us an opportunity to deepen our faith, extend love to our neighbours, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one people regardless of religious differences,” Isiaka said. “I encourage all our people in Ifo and Ewekoro to embrace peace, support one another, and remember those in need.”
The Deputy Chief Whip also called on religious leaders to continue preaching messages of harmony and national unity, noting that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity. He appealed to the faithful to intensify prayers for economic stability, security, and progress across the country.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality representation and developmental projects to the constituency, promising that his office would continue to work closely with community leaders, youth groups, and religious bodies to promote inclusive growth and peaceful coexistence.
Community leaders across the constituency have welcomed the message, describing it as timely and reflective of the shared values of the two faiths. Many residents expressed hope that the concurrent observance of Ramadan and Lent would further deepen interfaith understanding and cooperation in the area.
As the faithful embark on weeks of fasting, prayer, and reflection, Isiaka urged constituents to remain law-abiding, support security agencies, and look out for one another.
He concluded by wishing Muslims a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and Christians a meaningful Lenten journey, expressing optimism that the season would usher in renewed hope and unity for the people of Ifo and Ewekoro.
