The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development with the unveiling of a fresh phase of infrastructural and social projects across the council area.
Ogunsola made the declaration during an inspection visit to the newly approved 1.3-kilometre asphalt Ita-Baale/Oluwo/Adigbe Police Station Road, where construction work has commenced. He described the project as a direct response to the yearnings of residents and a complementary effort to the ongoing road infrastructure drive of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
According to the council boss, the road project will improve connectivity, enhance security around the police station corridor, and boost commercial activities within the affected communities. He emphasized that the local government remains resolute in delivering people-oriented projects that have direct impact on socio-economic growth.
Beyond road construction, Ogunsola announced a series of other approved projects spread across various wards in the council. These include the construction of lock-up shops at Kajola Market in Kajola Ward to strengthen local commerce and provide a more organized trading environment for market women and artisans.
In the education sector, he disclosed that the council will embark on the construction and renovation of two blocks of classrooms with a Head Teacher’s office at Owojo in Ajebo Ward. Similar projects will be executed at Moloko-Asipa in Asipa Ward, while a fresh block of classrooms will be constructed at N.U.D Primary School in Mowe, Ofada Ward. The interventions, he noted, are aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions and addressing infrastructural deficits in public primary schools.
Ogunsola also revealed plans to renovate the offices of the Information and Agricultural Departments at the local government secretariat in Owode to enhance service delivery and administrative efficiency.
As part of efforts to improve access to potable water, the chairman announced the construction of a motorized borehole at Alufa in Ajura Ward. In addition, the council has provided support for the installation and energization of a transformer at Ototo Aberu, Odofin Village in Egbeda Ward to improve electricity supply and stimulate small-scale enterprises.
He commended Governor Abiodun for supporting the council’s initiatives with necessary resources, noting that the state government’s backing has been instrumental in kick-starting many of the projects. Ogunsola pledged to continue aligning the council’s programmes with the policies and developmental agenda of the Ogun State Government.
The chairman further disclosed that grading of rural roads across several communities would commence soon as a palliative measure to ease the transportation of farm produce and facilitate business activities, particularly for farmers and traders in remote areas.
In a move aimed at boosting agricultural investment and job creation, Ogunsola hinted at ongoing efforts to receive Izindonga Group of South Africa next month for an agricultural investment drive in the local government. He expressed optimism that the proposed partnership would generate employment opportunities for the teeming youths and enhance food production in the area.
While calling for sustained public support, the council boss urged residents to fulfill their civic responsibilities through prompt payment of tenement rates, levies and other local government revenues. He assured that funds generated would be transparently deployed to further uplift the standard of living across Obafemi Owode.
Ogunsola reiterated his administration’s resolve to transform the local government into a model council through inclusive governance, strategic partnerships and impactful infrastructure development.
