OGUNSOLA CONSTITUTES PANEL OF ENQUIRY OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT, ABDUCTION IN OBAFEMI OWODE

The Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ambassador Adesina ‘Lanre’ Ogunsola, FCPA, has constituted a five-man Panel of Enquiry to investigate an alleged case of assault and abduction reported in Kajola Ward of the local government area.

The development follows reports published by an online platform, Amebo Newspaper, on January 24, 2026, which alleged that the current Supervisor for Agriculture, Mr. Muyiwa Ojebiyi assaulted and abducted Mr Adesanya in the ward.

Reacting to the report, the local government said it has taken the allegation seriously, stressing that it would not tolerate any form of intimidation, harassment, or unlawful acts within its jurisdiction. The Chairman emphasized that the investigation is aimed at establishing the facts surrounding the incident and ensuring justice where necessary.

According to a statement issued by the council, the panel is expected to conduct a thorough and impartial enquiry and submit its findings within seven days.

The members of the Panel of Enquiry are:

  • Hon. Kayode Dipeolu, Secretary to the Local Government – Chairman
  • Prince Awonubi S. F., Director, General Services and Administration – Secretary
  • Hon. Akeem Olakunle Gbelekale, Supervisor for Health – Member
  • Hon. Saula Adio Taiwo, Supervisor for Community and Special Duties – Member
  • Prince Segun Soneye, Director of Information – Member

Ambassador Ogunsola reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to peace, security, and the rule of law across all wards, villages, and towns in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

He further called on residents of Kajola Ward to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, assuring them that the council is taking all necessary steps to safeguard lives and property.

The Chairman stressed that the outcome of the panel’s work would guide the local government in taking appropriate actions in line with justice, fairness, and due process.
