An aspirant for the House of Representatives under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Alhaji Sheriff Adeola Olabode, popularly known as Omo’ba, has declared his intention to contest the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, saying the constituency urgently needs more practical and people-focused representation.
Olabode made this known while addressing constituents in Abeokuta, the state capital, where he said his aspiration is driven by a deep concern for the developmental needs of Abeokuta South and a desire to translate local challenges into effective legislation and impactful projects at the National Assembly between 2027 and 2031.
According to him, Abeokuta South requires a lawmaker who understands the realities on ground and is willing to consistently engage the people to ensure their voices are heard in Abuja.
“The constituency needs a representative who is not only present in Abuja but also present at home, listening to the people and turning their concerns into actionable policies,” Olabode said.
He explained that his ambition is rooted in strengthening the local economy, expanding opportunities for young people, and attracting sustainable investments capable of improving livelihoods across the constituency.
“Abeokuta South is blessed with hardworking people and huge potential, but we need stronger legislative backing to unlock real development,” he stated.
The APC aspirant noted that if he emerges as the party’s candidate, his legislative focus would include economic diversification, support for small and medium-scale enterprises, skills acquisition, and youth empowerment programmes. He stressed that job creation must go beyond political promises to deliver measurable and sustainable results.
Olabode further emphasised that quality representation goes beyond merely occupying a seat in the National Assembly, adding that it requires constant engagement with constituents and deliberate efforts to address their everyday needs.
“This is not about personal ambition; it is about collective progress. Our people deserve a representative who listens, who is accessible, and who will push for projects and policies that directly impact their lives,” he said.
He assured residents of Abeokuta South that key areas such as infrastructure development, education, empowerment initiatives, and social welfare would receive stronger attention through effective lawmaking, oversight functions, and constituency-driven interventions.
Olabode therefore called on the people of Abeokuta South, particularly APC leaders and stakeholders, to support his vision of inclusive, responsive, and development-oriented representation, describing 2027 as an opportunity to reposition the constituency for greater growth and prosperity.
With his declaration, political activities are expected to gradually gather momentum in Abeokuta South as aspirants begin consultations ahead of the next general elections.
