The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), National Body, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident involving global sports icon, Mr. Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua, describing the incident as heartbreaking and emotionally devastating.
In a press statement signed by its National President, Aare Oluwafemi Ajayi (popularly known as FM Castro), the student body said it was addressing the public with a profound sense of responsibility, empathy, and collective concern in the wake of the unfortunate event.
NAOSS first extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, acknowledging that the pain of losing a loved one is beyond words. The association offered prayers for divine strength, comfort, and grace for the bereaved families, noting that Ogun State students stand in solidarity with them during this period of grief.
“Our hearts go first to the families of the deceased. Losing a loved one is a pain that words cannot cure. We pray that God grants the families the strength to carry this burden and the comfort that only time and divine mercy can provide,” the statement read.
While mourning the victims, NAOSS also recognized the profound emotional and psychological toll such a traumatic incident can have on an individual. The association therefore wished Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua a full and speedy recovery, not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally.
“Healing does not only involve the body; it involves the mind and the soul,” the statement emphasized.
NAOSS further commended the Ogun State Government and relevant security agencies for their swift intervention and prompt handling of the situation, describing their response as a clear reflection of commitment to public safety and human dignity.
The association described Anthony Joshua as more than a sportsman, noting that his journey of discipline, sacrifice, and resilience has continued to inspire Ogun State students, Nigerian youths, and millions across the world.
“Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua is a symbol of perseverance and hope. To students and youths, his story has remained a powerful source of motivation,” NAOSS stated.
In light of the incident, the association appealed to the Ogun State Government to provide comprehensive institutional, medical, and psychological support to help the sports icon overcome the trauma associated with the accident.
NAOSS also made it clear that Joshua should not be discouraged by the incident, stressing that Ogun State students and youths nationwide stand firmly with him.
“One painful chapter does not erase years of positive impact, inspiration, and service to humanity. Those he has motivated through humility and hard work now return that encouragement in full measure,” the statement added.
Concluding the release, NAOSS reaffirmed its collective stance of compassion and unity, stating that Ogun State students choose empathy, prayer, and togetherness in the face of tragedy.
