The Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Environment, Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, has felicitated with the people of Abeokuta South Local Government Area and its environs on the occasion of the 2025 Christmas celebration, calling on residents to reflect the love, peace and selflessness exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Akintunde, who is an aide to Governor Abiodun CON, made this known in a press statement released on Tuesday in Abeokuta. He described Christmas as a season that goes beyond merrymaking, stressing that it is a period for deep reflection on the values of love, sacrifice, tolerance and compassion, which Christ represented.

According to him, the celebration of Christmas offers an opportunity for individuals and communities to renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding, especially at a time when unity and collective responsibility are needed for societal growth.

“Christmas is a reminder of God’s love for humanity and the need for us to extend that same love to one another, irrespective of our differences. As we celebrate, we must remember the less privileged among us and show kindness in our words and actions,” Akintunde stated.

The governor’s aide commended the people of Abeokuta South for their continued support for the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, noting that such cooperation has contributed to the steady progress being recorded across the state, particularly in the area of environmental sustainability and urban renewal.

He reiterated the commitment of the state government to policies and programmes aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer and healthier environment, urging residents to continue to support government efforts by maintaining hygienic practices during and after the festive period.

Akintunde also used the occasion to pray for peace, good health and prosperity for families in Abeokuta South and Ogun State at large, expressing optimism that the coming year would bring greater opportunities and development for the people.

As he distributed food materials to ward 1 to 15 of the Abeokuta South Local Government of All Progressives Congress APC, He encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, avoid actions that could disrupt public peace, and remain law-abiding throughout the festive season.

“As we rejoice this season, let us do so with gratitude to God and with a renewed sense of responsibility to our communities and our state,” he added.

The Christmas message was well received by community members, who described it as timely and reflective of the season’s true essence.
