The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has called on residents of the state to prioritize personal and collective safety during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, particularly while travelling, celebrating, and attending public gatherings.
The call was made in a goodwill message issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made available to the media through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
Cmdr. Ganzallo described the Yuletide season as a period of joy, reflection, and family bonding, noting that it also comes with increased movement of people and heightened social activities across the state. He therefore stressed the need for residents to remain vigilant in order to prevent avoidable security challenges.
The State Commander specifically advised motorists to shun reckless driving, obey traffic regulations, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on long-distance journeys. He emphasized that careful driving and adherence to road safety rules would help reduce accidents during the festive rush.
He also urged residents to be cautious in residential areas and public places, especially crowded locations such as markets, worship centres, motor parks, and recreational venues. According to him, unnecessary late-night movements should be avoided, while any suspicious activity should be promptly reported to relevant security agencies.
Cmdr. Ganzallo disclosed that the So-Safe Corps has intensified patrols, surveillance operations, and community engagement initiatives across all formations in Ogun State to guarantee a peaceful and crime-free festive period. He reassured residents of the Corps’ readiness to work closely with sister security agencies to protect lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.
The State Commander further appealed to community leaders, parents, and youths to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
While extending warm Christmas and New Year greetings to the Ogun State Government and the people of the state, Cmdr. Ganzallo reaffirmed the commitment of the So-Safe Corps to safeguarding lives and property throughout the festive season. He expressed optimism that with collective vigilance and cooperation, Ogun State would witness a safe, peaceful, and prosperous year ahead.
