Prince Fatai Adesegun, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a key political ally of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), on Friday feted party faithful, community leaders and residents of Ijebu North Local Government Area with 200 bags of rice, 300 cartons of noodles and a cash gift of N12 million.
The empowerment gesture took place during an end-of-year meeting of political stakeholders convened under the auspices of the Ogun East Assembly at the popular Omo Ilu Ground, Ijebu-Igbo.
The Ogun East Assembly is a political mobilisation platform set up to galvanise support for the 2027 gubernatorial aspiration of Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
The well-attended meeting brought together APC leaders and executives from the 11 wards in Ijebu North, party faithful, community leaders, religious bodies, Community Development Associations (CDAs), youth and women groups, as well as representatives of various ethnic and professional associations.
Among prominent party leaders present were former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Prince Segun Adesegun; former members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare, Hon. Abudu Abiodun Balogun and Hon. Deko Onamusi; as well as former Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Water Resources, Hon. Kunle Otun Kope, alongside several other APC chieftains.
In their goodwill messages, speakers commended Prince Adesegun for his consistent efforts in strengthening unity, cohesion and cooperation within the APC in Ijebu North and Ogun East at large. They also applauded his generosity, describing the distribution of food items and cash as timely and impactful, especially in view of prevailing economic realities.
Of note at the event was the sharing of 200 bags of rice, 300 cartons of noodles and N12 million in cash among various wards, groups and associations across the local government area.
In a brief address, Prince Fatai Adesegun said the gesture was aimed at supporting the people while also reinforcing political mobilisation ahead of future elections. He stressed that the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to rally support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, consolidate the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, and build widespread backing for the 2027 governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, CON.
According to him, Senator Adeola has distinguished himself as a servant leader committed to youth empowerment and sustainable development across Ogun State.
“Senator Yayi has continued to demonstrate leadership through empowerment and people-oriented projects. I urge our people to continue to stand by him. With Senator Yayi, greater progress and development are achievable for Ogun State,” Adesegun said.
He also expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders and community representatives for their support and loyalty to the APC, assuring them of continued engagement and inclusiveness.
Groups represented at the meeting and beneficiaries of the largesse included the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ijebu North chapter; the Muslim community led by the Chief Imam of Ago-Iwoye; market men and women; traditional leaders including Baales and Olorituns; Igbo and Hausa communities; youth and women groups; farmers, artisans and persons with special needs, among others.
The event ended with renewed pledges of loyalty to the APC and strong expressions of support for President Tinubu, Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola ahead of the 2027 general elections.
