Cleaner Rewarded N2.5M for Returning N4.8M Mistakenly Paid into Her Account

Faiza Abdulkadir, a cleaner who returned N4.8 million erroneously deposited into her bank account, received a N2.5 million gift from an anonymous donor. 

The cheque was presented by Aisha Muhammad Aisami, president of Da’awah Wal Irshaad Women Organisation, in Maiduguri on September 1, 2025.

Aisami revealed that the donor, moved by Faiza’s story online, contacted the organization to reward her honesty. 

Faiza expressed gratitude to the donor and the organization, urging others to uphold integrity and prioritize eternal values over temporary gains. 

“If you fear God, you won’t be tempted by what isn’t yours,” she said.Faiza, a cleaner at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital earning N30,000 monthly, supports her five children and elderly mother. 

Last week, she also received N1 million, food items, and vocational equipment from Borno State’s First Lady, Dr. Falmata Babagana Zulum.

Zuwaira Gambo, the State Commissioner of Women Affairs, praised Faiza’s rare integrity, given her financial struggles.
