Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the family of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, to convey condolences on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The visit, which took place in Abuja, followed Ogbeh’s passing last week at the age of 78, marking the loss of a revered elder statesman and political figure.
Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), shared details of the visit on X, noting that Shettima represented President Tinubu in honouring Ogbeh’s legacy.
“Vice President Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has visited the family of the late former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, to offer condolences over the death of the distinguished elder statesman who passed away peacefully on Saturday at the age of 78,” Nkwocha posted.
Ogbeh, a prominent figure from Benue State, served as Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2019, where he championed agricultural reforms and rural development initiatives.
His tenure also included a stint as Minister of Steel Development in the 1980s under President Shehu Shagari.
Known for his intellectual contributions and commitment to national development, Ogbeh was a key member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a respected voice in Nigerian politics.
During the visit, Shettima expressed deep sympathy to Ogbeh’s family, highlighting the late minister’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s agricultural sector and his dedication to public service.
