We’Re Not Just Building Roads, We’Re Rebuilding Trust – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday declared that the Tinubu administration is committed not only to infrastructure but to restoring the broken trust between government and citizens.

Speaking at the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, Shettima who represented President Tinubu, described the project as a symbol of renewed hope and responsive governance.

“This is more than a road,” Shettima said. “It’s a corridor of dignity for market women, a path to safety for school children, and a road to prosperity for hardworking traders. We are no longer in the era of empty promises, we’re bridging the gap between words and action.”

He stressed that the project wasn’t dictated by distant authorities but emerged from the grassroots demands of Gwagwalada residents proof, he said, of the administration’s commitment to people-led democracy.

“What makes this moment special is that these projects were nominated by the people themselves,” he said. “This is the democracy we believe in one that listens, responds, and delivers.”

Shettima also highlighted sweeping reforms in the Federal Capital Territory, crediting the Tinubu-led administration with expanding the FCT’s revenue base and investing directly in roads, schools, hospitals, and people.

He praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his bold leadership, saying, “Wike has shown that disruption isn’t chaos, it’s the engine of real progress.”
