In light of recent developments at the Ode‑Lemo State Hospital, we wish to remind the public that Hon. Alhaji Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Offin, Sagamu 1 Constituency, had already raised this issue as far back as 2024 after personally visiting the hospital and witnessing firsthand the alarming state of its facilities.
In that year, Hon. Bello tabled a formal resolution titled:
“Urgent Call on the State Government to Renovate and Overhaul the State Hospital, Ode‑Lemo.”
This motion emphasized the urgent need for government intervention due to the hospital’s deteriorating conditions affecting vulnerable groups like pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, and farmers.
Hon. Bello has reiterated his commitment to this cause, ensuring it remains on the legislative and developmental agenda. The matter is being followed up again with urgency.
Most painfully, we join the community in mourning the tragic loss of an 8-year-old child whose life was lost under heartbreaking circumstances. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family. No child should suffer due to preventable lapses in our healthcare system.
This moment calls not for blame, but for collective accountability and immediate action. Hon. Bello has done his part by sounding the alarm and will continue to do more until the Ode‑Lemo State Hospital receives the upgrade and attention it urgently needs.
