Ogun: Suspension of Nursing Student Seyi Ogunjobi: Clarifying the Facts Behind the Allegations

In a recent development surrounding the Neuro Psychiatric Hospital in Aro Abeokuta, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Paul Agboola, has addressed the situation regarding the suspension of nursing student Seyi Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi faced disciplinary action after levying serious allegations of physical and verbal assault against Dr. Yinka Majekodunmi, the Head of Clinical Services at the hospital.

Speaking to AMEBO NEWSPAPER NG., Dr. Agboola explained that he received a written petition detailing the alleged incidents while he was on official duty in Abuja. Promptly, he instituted an inquiry to thoroughly investigate the claims and to ensure a fair examination of the events.

The Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, known for its long-standing tradition of training dedicated healthcare professionals and upholding patient privacy, set up a diverse investigation panel. This panel included representatives from various departments such as pharmacy, physiotherapy, and nursing, with Dr. Paul Agboola overseeing the proceedings.

Among the panel members was Mrs. Majolagbe Kafayat, the Head of Nursing Services. She recounted that the incident, which sparked the investigation, occurred on the 30th of June, 2025. Following the report, she collaborated with Dr. Ibrahim to determine the best course of action in response to the allegations.

As part of the investigation, both Ogunjobi and Dr. Majekodunmi were summoned to present their cases along with any witnesses. However, the sole witness provided by Ogunjobi failed to corroborate the allegations, stating he was unaware of the details surrounding the incident and had only seen Ogunjobi in a moment of distress. In contrast, Dr. Majekodunmi asserted that he did not physically engage with Ogunjobi. Additional student testimonies corroborated Dr. Majekodunmi's account, stating they did not witness any inappropriate behavior.

Ultimately, the panel concluded that Ogunjobi’s inability to substantiate the serious claims led to his suspension. In a subsequent message to Dr. Agboola, Ogunjobi’s father expressed his gratitude for the hospital's efforts in shaping the students and appealed for fairness within the context of the investigation.

Dr. Paul Agboola emphasized that he is committed to the academic success of all students at the institution. He firmly stated that no student would be deprived of their examinations and reiterated his dedication to providing both education and appropriate care to patients within the Neuro Psychiatric Hospital.

As this situation unfolds, Dr. Agboola is urging parents and guardians to instill a strong sense of integrity in their children to navigate the challenges they may encounter in higher education. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and transparency within academic institutions, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
