A 46-year-old Nigerian man was struck and k!lled by a drunk driver in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, when the man was crossing State Road 554 at traffic lights between Selargius and Settimo San Pietro. The man was hit by a BMW driven by a 25-year-old woman who tested positive for alcohol.
Emergency services attended the scene, and the road was closed for investigations. The Carabinieri identified the deceased with the help of the local Nigerian community.
The body is expected to be repatriated to Nigeria in the coming days after the victim's brother was contacted. The deceased had worked in Settimo San Pietro for several years and lived in nearby Selargius.
Four young people in the BMW were taken to hospitals for medical checks and are reported to be in non-serious condition.
