Ogun State, Nigeria - Michael Adewale Adesanya, a passionate advocate for education and an aspirant for the House of Representatives in the Remo Federal Constituency bye-election, has successfully conducted examinations for 600 students across 19 local government areas of Ogun State. Notably, Waterside was excluded from this year's program as no students applied for the educational empowerment scheme.

This year marks the fifth edition of the scholarship program, which was inaugurated in 2021. Utilizing a unique approach to selection, schools across Ogun State were tasked with identifying three outstanding students each to participate in this life-changing initiative. In total, 600 bright minds will participate while 150 will benefit from this year's scholarship, which aims to alleviate the financial burden of education for many families across the region.

During the event, Adesanya reflected on his personal journey, sharing insights from his 2020 publication, "Adewale: My Mother's Son." The book narrates his transformation and experiences as he represented the prestigious Mayflower School in Ikenne at various science competitions. His compelling story serves as an inspiration, encouraging students to seek greatness and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.

“Every knowledge is important and serves as a pathway to prosperity,” Adesanya emphasized while addressing the scholarship recipients. He urged them to remain committed to their education, regardless of the challenges they might face. "Do not drop out of school; seek knowledge through every available means — online or virtually. It will undoubtedly have a positive impact on your lives," he advised.

Moreover, Adesanya addressed the current state of education in Nigeria, advocating for a curriculum aligned with the aspirations and needs of students. He urged the government to revamp the educational system, emphasizing a focus on basic education that could revitalize the overall standard of learning in the country. “We need a curriculum that children want to understand,” he stated, underlining the importance of a relevant and engaging education.

As a political aspirant, Adesanya is determined to address pressing issues in his constituency. "I believe that we can tackle problems through politics," he remarked, expressing his commitment to infrastructure development, educational empowerment, and caring for the elderly in the Remo area. His vision extends beyond his candidacy; he envisions a community where education is revered, and every child has the opportunity to succeed.

The scholarship program not only highlights Adesanya’s dedication to education but also serves as a beacon of hope for the youth of Ogun State, reinforcing the idea that with perseverance and the right support, they can achieve their dreams.

As the program unfolds, the community watches eagerly, hopeful that the positive changes promised by Adesanya will come to fruition, paving the way for a brighter future where education serves as the cornerstone for development and empowerment.
