APC Forum Renews Call for Plateau Governor to Defect

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has reiterated its call for Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. 

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, said the call is aimed at strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Forum's Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, stated that the call is in line with a directive from the party's national leadership.

“Our campaign is based on a directive from above. Governor Caleb Mutfwang is a progressive, and we believe he belongs in our great party, the APC,” Zazzaga said.

He warned party leaders in Plateau State against resisting the move, describing such opposition as counterproductive.

“Those who have constituted themselves as cogs in the wheel of progress must tread with caution.

Some stakeholders have accused the Forum of anti-party conduct and called for the convener's suspension.

“No intimidation or blackmail will stop us from pursuing what is in the best interest of the APC,” he added.

Reacting to some stakeholders in the party accusing the Forum of anti-party conduct and calling for the convener’s suspension, the Forum insisted its actions are aligned with the broader goals of the party.

“Calling on a sitting governor to join the APC is not anti-party activity. On the contrary, it should be commended by all who want the party to grow,” the Forum stated.

The Forum defended its stance, arguing that welcoming progressive leaders like Mutfwang would enhance the party’s appeal and development efforts in the North-Central zone.

Referencing the recent defections of Delta and Akwa Ibom governors to the APC, Zazzaga urged stakeholders to “not allow Plateau to be left behind in the wave of political realignment sweeping the country."
