Defectors To APC Will Regret Betraying NNPP – Kwankwaso

Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Governor of Kano State, has issued a stern warning to defectors from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), declaring they will come to regret abandoning the ideals of the movement.

Speaking to a crowd of loyalists from Takai Local Government Area at his Miller Road residence in Kano on Friday, Kwankwaso condemned the recent wave of defections from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He specifically criticized Senator Abdulrahman Kawu of Kano South and several federal lawmakers for what he described as an act of betrayal.

“Kano South is a lesson,” he said. “Voters rejected superghetti, N200, and Atamfa wrappers to stand with the NNPP. But those we entrusted with power chose self-interest over service. There is no greater political sin than turning your back on the party that gave you everything.”

Kwankwaso praised those who chose to remain with the NNPP or returned after leaving, calling their loyalty a reaffirmation of their commitment to the movement and the people it represents.

He emphasized that true political leadership demands loyalty, integrity, and a connection to grassroots supporters; values he accused the defectors of discarding in their pursuit of personal gain.

“These defections are not just political missteps,” he added. “They are moral failures that will haunt those responsible. In due time, they will understand the cost of abandoning a cause built on people’s trust.”

The remarks come at a critical time as political parties across the country realign ahead of upcoming elections.
