Supporters of the Senator Esther Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party (LP) erupted in celebration following the release of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Supreme Court judgment affirming the committee’s leadership.
The jubilant reaction came as Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, publicly read portions of the judgment, confirming that the Supreme Court recognized Senator Usman as the legitimate leader of the party’s caretaker committee.
Governor Otti emphasized that the court not only affirmed Usman’s leadership but also delivered a strong message to the country’s political class.
According to him, the judgment reiterated the importance of respecting the tenures of office as outlined in political party constitutions, calling for internal party democracy and discipline.
The ruling is seen as a major boost for Senator Usman’s camp in the ongoing power struggle within the party, with supporters hailing it as a victory for due process and constitutional order.
