The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the demolition of the widely talked-about “healing water site” in Hotoron Arewa, Kano metropolis — a location that had recently attracted thousands of residents and visitors seeking spiritual or divine healing.
According to reports, the board’s Director General, Abba Sufi, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, stated that the site was demolished on Monday, April 21.
“We discovered that some disgruntled elements are using the place to mislead desperate patients seeking treatment,” Sufi said.
He described the activities at the site as deceptive and vowed that the board would not tolerate such manipulations in the name of spirituality or healing.
Sufi also issued a warning to Kano residents and visitors to disregard any narratives regarding the supposed sanctity of the water, urging people not to be misled by what he called “undesirable elements.”
The demolition marks a decisive move by the Hisbah Board in curbing what it sees as religious exploitation and misinformation, particularly among vulnerable populations.
