Zelensky To Visit South Africa’ On April 10

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to visit South Africa next month, the country’s presidency confirmed on Friday.

“President Zelensky will be visiting South Africa on the 10th of April,” said presidency spokesman Vincent Magwenya in a statement to AFP.

The visit is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to facilitate “an inclusive peace process” between Russia and Ukraine, according to Magwenya.

Last week, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa extended an invitation to Zelensky following criticism of Russia and the United States for attempting to negotiate an end to the war without involving Ukraine or its European allies.

“South Africa remains committed to supporting the dialogue process between Russia and Ukraine,” Ramaphosa stated in a post on X.

The two leaders have engaged in constructive discussions and share a common stance on the urgency of an inclusive peace process that involves all relevant parties, Ramaphosa added.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to Ramaphosa for backing “Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” reiterating his hopes for peace in 2024.

“It is important that our countries share the same position: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized in a post on X last week.
