The member of House of Assembly, Ijebu North state constituency, Prince Segun Kaka has felicitated with Ogun state and Nigerians in general on the 64th independence celebration.

He acknowledged the effort of every Nigerian, especially the forefathers who in one way or the other paid the supreme sacrifice for the independence of the nation as well as keeping it united.

“I write to felicitate with Nigerians, especially the Leader of our party, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and all well-meaning Ogun state indigenous Son and Daughters on the occasion of our nation’s 64th Independence Celebration.

“It is true that the Independence we now enjoy was fought for and handed over by illustrious Nigerians, whose spirit of selflessness and ideals of faith in this nation led them to even pay the ultimate price,” he said.

In a statement he issued, Prince Segun Kaka noted that though the nation has witnessed some challenges, the 64th Independence affords all another moment to ponder on the sacrifices and labor of the hero’s past.

“It is also true that we have advanced and progressed in our journey through nationhood and the occasion of our Independence affords us another moment to ponder on the sacrifices and labor of our heroes’ past.

“Let me seize this moment to call on the Federal Government to remember the contribution of distinguished Ogun indegenes like the late Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory who served amongst many other portfolios as Prime Minister of the Western Region, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Tai Solarin, Olabisi Onabanjo and others with their dedication led at a time when the nation fought to stay as one indivisible entity. It is our belief that his strides are worthy of national recognition and immortalization.

“On behalf of the people of Ijebu North state constituency, let me once again wish us all a wonderful Independence Day commemoration.”
