Coordinator, Nigerian Students New Brunswick, Canada, Olalekan Olatunji, on Friday, visited the Nigeria House in Ottawa where he met with Mrs. Titilayo Olaiya, an Ogbomoso born Head of Immigration in Ottawa.
Narrating his encounter and exploration during the visit in a lengthy epistle made available to MOUTHPIECE NGR on Sunday, Olatunji, a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, (LAUTECH), and an indigene of Oyo state, described Olaiya as a smart, energetic, and proactive individual whose demeanor left a lasting impression.
According to him, the meeting focused on finding solutions to passport capturing issues faced by Nigerian students in Canada, ensuring their continued stay in the country.
He stated that their discussions ranged from enhancing cultural exchanges and educational opportunities for Nigerian students in Canada to facilitating partnerships between Canadian and Nigerian universities.
Olatunji, who equally extolled the leadership prowess of Olaiya, commended her dedication to service and proactive approach to problem-solving.
He wrote: “During my visit Friday April 12th to the Nigeria House in Ottawa as the Coordinator of Nigerian Students in New Brunswick, the journey from Moncton was long but rewarding, taking around 15 hours with captivating views of various cities along the way. Despite encountering traffic similar to Lagos upon arrival in Ottawa, it didn't hinder our progress significantly.
“The Nigeria House in Ottawa plays a vital role as the diplomatic mission of Nigeria in Canada, offering consular services and fostering diplomatic relations between the two nations.
“Upon entering the embassy, I was struck by the staff's dedication and teamwork in tackling the day's challenges. Their positive attitude and professionalism were evident, even amidst a demanding workload.
“During my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Titilayo Olaiya, the Immigration Attache 1, whose smart, energetic, and proactive demeanor left a lasting impression. Our meeting focused on finding solutions to passport capturing issues faced by Nigerian students in Canada, ensuring their continued stay in the country.
“Mrs. Olaiya expressed her full support for Nigerian students from the Atlantic Province and Canada as a whole. We also explored potential areas of collaboration to contribute to Nigeria's development. Our discussions ranged from enhancing cultural exchanges and educational opportunities for Nigerian students in Canada to facilitating partnerships between Canadian and Nigerian universities.
