Eid-el-fitri: Chief imam of Ibadanland, Agbotomokekere expresses gratitude to Gov. Makinde over Hajj Chairman’s appointment

The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, has expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde over the appointment of an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Hashim Atere as the Chairman Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare's Board (Muslim Wings).

Agbotomokekere, who gave the appreciation during the Eid-el-Fitri sermon at the Gate Muslim prayer ground in Ibadan on Thursday, said that one of Governor Makinde's good deeds was appointing one of them as his aide. 

He stated that the Governor appointed a trained Islamic scholar, Sheikh Atere, who is an Ibadan man,  as the Chairman of the Hajj pilgrims Board in honor of Ibadan-imam-in-council.

The Chief Imam equally commended the Governor for his developmental strides in Oyo state since he assumed office, stating that he was deserving of their prayers.

He said: “ I need to sincerely appreciate the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde towards the development of Islam in the state. He is known for many good deeds and part of it was also the appointment of one of us, Sheikh Hashim Ateere as Chairman Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare's Board (Muslim Wings).

“We are indeed grateful to him and we will continue to pray for his success. 

“May Allah continue to smoothen the relationship of Governor makinde and his deputy, Bayo Lawal in moving the state forward. Amin.”

Agbotomokekere, however, urged Muslims to also increase in good deeds even when the Ramadan is gone and not to allow bad deeds in any way ruin their fasting. 

He emphasised that life is vanity and that only good deeds will remain when everyone is gone, saying that someone who is deeply knowledgeable will never allow himself to be taken away by the attraction of fame and entertainment.

Meanwhile, in his own appreciation, Sheikh Atere, who spoke at the Governor Ikolaba’s residence, thanked seized the opportunity to thank him for his many good deeds, especially the way he brought many individuals into the spotlight through several political appointments. 

He invoked Allah's blessings and protection upon him and his entire household, as well as prayed that almighty Allah continue to uplift him.
