As parts of activities in line to mark the first project of the year, Igbogbo Royal Lions Club, on Tuesday, planted no fewer than ten flowers to one of the government primary schools in Lagos.
The project, according to the association, Igbogbo royal Lions club, District 404A3, region 4,zone 6A, was said to be parts of its humanitarian services to the society.
The program tagged "Save The Environment, Plant A Tree" held at U.M.A.C Eleja Nursery and primary school, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos state.
Present at the event included the President of the Igbogbo royal Lions club,Lion Faith Agada, the Vice President Lion Sunbola, the club secretary Lion Ahamed Adeola, service chairperson Lion Oluwakemi Okunsanya, The school head Mistress Mrs Oshinibosi and other reputable Lion members of the club.
Speaking on the theme of the program, the association president, Lion Faith Agada, expressed satisfaction with the development of the Environmental Awareness programme, which is one of the core projects for lions clubs every year.
She equally explained the importance of planting trees,stating that a tree is also a landmark that brings people together, she also encourages that government can invest more in tree planting, and it would contribute to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate changes.
The president also hinted that trees and flowers makes the environment beautiful and also makes the Earth a conducive place for humans and animals to live in.
She therefore said that as an association, it is important to take such environment awareness programme to schools and also educate the general public on the importance of tree planting in the community.
