Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said no matter how the controversy surrounding Tinubu’s health is being “parroted”, the APC candidate is fit for presidency.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who appeared on Arise TV morning show on Monday, also said it was baseless for anyone to ask for the medical report of Tinubu.Keyamo said Tinubu had never collapsed or fallen anywhere before, therefore, asking for his health status was baseless.
Keyamo was addressing questions concerning the campaign activities of the APC as the presidential election draws closer.
“No matter how much they repeat it, no matter how much you parrot it, the fact remains that there is no evidence to the culturing that my candidate has some health issues.
“I have not seen anything happen to my candidate that has not happened to any other candidate. What has happened to my candidate? Has he fainted? Has he collapsed? Nothing has happened.
"There must be a basis by which somebody will say I need to disclose my health status,” Keyamo partly said, saying “there is absolutely no basis."
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment also said the inflation rate under the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not the highest in the history of the country.
He said this while responding to questions about what Buhari’s legacy Tinubu would build on in terms of economy and security, among others, if elected president in the forthcoming elections.
Keyamo claimed that inflation rate was rather highest under the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, as his the Vice President.
“This is not the highest inflation rate. In 2005, under Obasanjo and Atiku, we had a 28 per cent inflation rate. Under Obasanjo and Atiku, we had the highest,” Keyamo said.
