Few days after the performing Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, received a special award in Abuja for his administration's unprecedented achievements in the State, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode local government, Amb.Hon.Ogunsola Adesina Lanre has been awarded with the best Chairman on rural roads in the country.
Receiving the award in Abuja, Ambassador Ogunsola was specifically praised for judiciously using the resources at his disposal for the growth and development of his council area.
The Award conferment ceremony was held at the National Merit Award Auditorium, Maitama, Abuja.
The Project Coordinator appraised Ambassador Ogunsola for standing tall in terms of providing visionary and purposeful leadership to the people in the area of infrastuctural development and opening up some villages with accessible roads within one year of assumption of office
The organiser said the award is a symbol for responsible governance and encouragement to Ambassador Ogunsola to do more.
"The reward of hard work is more work.”
Speaking after he received the Award, Ambassador Ogunsola said that he was delighted to be among the awardees as this would spur him to do more.
He said; “I feel happy. That shows that people are appreciating what we are doing, that shows that local government is functioning, that shows that we are being watched not only from within the state but also outside the state. It will make me to do more; as I go back ,I will start thinking of another project to do. I want to be the best in the country.”
He specifically thanked Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for providing good leadership in the State, saying that he will continue to emulate his leadership style for Obafemi Owode local government to remain best in the country.
“It is all about performance. I thought it was all about being the best chairman in the area of rural roads but I was surprised it became the best in south west . I did not know them (the organizers) before now. They said they were from Abuja and I thought they were sent from the presidency to see what I am doing in my local government.
“We have done well in constructing roads so that we can get goods to the city and markets easily, these projects are beneficial to the grassroots
A lot is being done and we are going to do more. When we finish ,people will know that local government is functional,” Ogunsola explained.
He then dedicate the Award to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR and the good people of Obafemi Owode local government for the support given to his administration while appreciating the good people of the local Government for giving him the opportunity to serve them
