NANS shuns attempt to politicise MAPOLY protest, commends Abiodun's Aide On prompt intervention

ABEOKUTA— The leadersnip of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS in Ogun State has shunned the attempt by the mercenaries of opposition parties to hijack the protest of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY today, 18th of October, 2022.

The chairman of the association, Comr. Damilola Kehinde commended the efforts of representative of Ogun state government, Comr. Azeez Adeyemi, Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on student matters and Hon. Biyi Adeleye who expressed their displeasure over the situation of things in the institution.
The special assistant to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun on student matters, Comr. Adeyemi A. Azeez and the commissioner of Education, Prof. Arigbabu during today's protest, expressed the promise of the governor at the budget Town Hall meeting in Ijebu-Ode yesterday to the protesting students, Amebo Newspapers NG learnt.
According to Damilola Kehinde, the chairman of NANS in Ogun state, he said the commitment of the Special Assistant the Governor of Ogun state, Hon. Biyi Adeleye and Comr. Adeyemi Azeez lead to the immediate reversal of the N20,000 Naira registration fee mandated by the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY on students. 

"We commend the efforts of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun state on Political Matters, Hon. Biyi Adeleye and Comr. Adeyemi Azeez, Special Assistant on student matters, who until late night were both putting efforts to bring lasting solution to our demands, we are very glad to inform the general public that the N20,000 naira registration fee has been reversed with immediate effect and all the students would not have to make this payment again." Said Kehinde Damilola 

"It is important to note that MAPOLY struggle is not for politicians to take advantage of, it is only ironical that the errand boys of ex-governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun are trying to use our genuine struggle to score political points, Whereas, the problem the institution is facing till date was caused by their paymaster, Amosun" he added.

However, he said the institution was shutdown during the tenure of Senator Ibikule Amosun even at the brink of extinction, after trying to replace it with another planned institution to win the heart of Ipokia people to vote for his anointed candidate, Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade during the last election.

He urged the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun not to relent in the funding of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to maintain its standard as one of the best institution in the country. 

He saluted all the national executives of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS who joined the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to get their demands from the government of Ogun state.
