The Federal Court High Court in Abeokuta on Thursday struck out a case challenging Chief Olumide Aderinokun's candidacy as the People Democratic Party's flagbearer for Ogun Central Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.
The case filed by an aspirant, Dada Kolawole Oduntan challenged the primary election that took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on May 23 and prayed to the court to declare him winner.
The presiding judge of Court 1 in the FHC, Hon. Justice O.O Oguntoyinbo concluded that the case filed against Chief Aderinokun lacked jurisdiction because court processes were not followed and the case was not properly filed as a legal practitioner did not sign it.
An elated Chief Aderinokun said: "The judgement is a testament that my ambition is all about the people's mandate and it can not be tempered with by just an individual.
"I have always believed in the power of a united people and I'm grateful to God that I'm still in this marathon with my people from Ifo, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Odeda, Ewekoro and Obafemi-Owode behind me.
"PDP as a party is clearly unstoppable as one. It is indeed a good news that separates us from distractors."
The plaintiff, Oduntan left the court premises in shame after the judgement was delivered.
