The Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Rt. (Hon) Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya on Saturday commenced the ground-breaking exercise of a skill acquisition centre for the benefit of the people of Ijebu North local government area in Ogun state.

The event was attended by Kegbo of Atikori, Kabiyes Ibitayo Solaja, his Otunbas and community leaders as well as Dr. S. T. Akindele led management of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic and residents of the ancient community.

According to Rt. (Hon) Adekoya, who is representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside federal constituency at the national assembly the vocational centre will be named after the late billionaire businessman and politician, Prince Buruji Kashamu who he said played a significant role in his journey to the Green Chamber.

Speaking further, Adekoya prominently known as Attacker in the Nigeria political circle added that the multi-million naira project apart from giving back to the society will help many residents to actualise their dreams and aid those who are not privileged to work with private or public organisations to have a livelihood.

The ancient site of Oke-Oyinbo skill acquisition centre in Atikori, and constructed by the British has been earmarked for the project.

Extolling the virtues of late Prince Kashamu, Adekoya disclosed that his roles in the human capital development of his people cannot be over-emphasised, hence his legacies must be protected.

In his own words, ‘may Almighty Allah continue to forgive the sins of Prince Buruji Kashamu. At some point in time, he spent 15million naira on mobilisation and in making sure my House of Representatives ambition comes into fruition then.

That is not even enough, during the 2015 general elections, I won in Ijebu Igbo with 7,500 votes and I equally won in Ago-Iwoye with 1500 votes. It means therefore that Ijebu Igbo contributed substantially to my electoral victory.

*He was a supportive and rare leader who stood firm with his political allies and followers during his lifetime,’ Adekoya added.*

In her goodwill message, the Acting Rector of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo, Dr (Mrs) S.T Akindele lauded the consistent intervention of Adekoya in enhancing the growth and development of the education sector in Nigeria.

Akindele described the berth of the vocation center as timely, as it came at a time the institution needed a skill and enterpreurship center to aid the accreditation of newly introduced courses by National Business and Technical Examinations Board, (NABTEB).

'Yes, the management staff as well as the entire students of the Polytechnic community are grateful for the commencement of this project. But like Oliver Twist, we are passionately seeking for the construction of a tastefully furnished academic hall in our school by our father, Hon Adekoya. And we will want the proposed project to be named after him”, the Rector pleaded.
