Life is not politics, don't tap members from other churches — Bishop Oyedepo tells followers

Living Faith Church (aka Winners Chapel) founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, has urged his followers not to tap members from other churches.

Oyedepo gave the admonition while preaching on Sunday.

"Don’t de-evangelize people from one church to your church," he said.

"We had a church next to us in Raji Oba, 1A New Era Road. It was a CPM church, there was no issue. A dwarf fence separated us, the pastor came to us to teach him about church growth, we did.

"Our church was growing, the other one was growing. Nobody was going there and we said: 'No! Come here. This one is better'.  That’s why we are where we are. 

"One of our sisters in the Lord had some health challenges and she said she saw in a dream that Pastor Kumuyi (Deeper Life church founder) was praying for her.

"So I wrote a note to Papa Kumuyi: 'Sir, this my daughter needs a touch from you'. He is my elder brother. He taught me a lot of things.

"Life is not politics. This is kingdom. There is no rivalry or competition here.

"I met someone from Christ Chapel in those early days in New Era Road, I said 'wait a minute, I used to know you at…' he said he wants to start coming here, I said never! No! You can’t be here. Get your pastor and tell him, if he gives you sabbatical, then you can come here.

"That is how we live our lives. It is not a political party, it is kingdom, order, decency, decorum, discipline."
