Terro*ism: Our Members Still Being Kill#d – Church

A major indigenous church group based in the North East, Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN), has said its church buildings and other assets are still being attacked and members killed or abducted despite federal government’s claim that it has uncovered sponsors of insurgency and is decisively dealing with the menace.

The church said during its annual general meeting at the church headquarters in Kwarhi, Adamawa State, that insecurity is worsening and the church continues to be a major victim in terms of killing of members, destruction of local church branches and loss of revenue.
President of the EYN, Rev Joel Stephen Billi, said in his address at the ongoing weeklong 75th Majalisa that security around the country has never been in such a sorry state as now.

Particularly questioning the federal government’s claim of having unearthed sponsors of insurgency, the EYN President asked, “If truly the Federal Government is fighting insurgency and has uncovered the sponsors, why is the war endless?
“Why not tell Nigerians who the sponsors are? Nigerians want to know them and they should face the wrath of the law no matter who they are.”

Speaking about insecurity generally, Rev Joel Billi said, “Nothing seems to improve. We have become vulnerable in the hands of kidnappers, Boko Haram and ritual killers. Nigerians have never been barbaric and in a state of anarchy like this!”
He added that the poor in particular continue to suffer the brunt of degraded national livelihood with inflation, for instance, shooting over the roof.
