Normal medical and health care services resumed fully this morning at the Federal Medical Centre Idi-Aba Abeokuta following the suspension of the strike action of National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD)

The Resident Doctors down tools two months   ago to press home their demands for improved working conditions and payment of some outstanding entitlements

According to the press statement signed by Segun Orisajo, Head, Public Relations, The NARD executives suspended the strike over the weekend following the commencement of the payment of Medical Residency Training Fund( MRTF)  which is one of the demands by the doctors.

A number of patients who thronged the Centre  were  attended to by both medical and health care practitioners.

The  Medical Director Prof Adewale Musa-Olomu who   monitored the resumption of duty by the doctors  expressed satisfaction with the latest development.

" I am very happy that NARD eventually suspended its strike action. The patients really turned up and the  doctors similarly turned up at their duty posts.

" There were no delays in all the Clinics because the recently introduced Electronic Medical Records (EMR) was working perfectly"

The Medical Director apologized to the  patients over  all the  inconveniences experienced while the strike action lasted.

Prof Musa-Olomu  however urged the entire health workers' to always consider the patients' interest before resorting into strike action.

" My appeal to our doctors and other health workers is to be considerate before choosing strike action as an option. Events of the recent past had shown that our patients really  suffered "
