Bridge Builders Initiative For Green Nigeria (BBIGN), a frontline  advocacy group in Nigeria, has lambasted the Peoples Democartic Party (PDP) for deliberately twisting the comments of the Honourable Minister of Transportation, His Excellency Rt Hon, Chibuike Amaechi, on stealing and Corruption.

The Transportation Minister had in an interview recently said that no individual can steal public funds openly under Buhari. He further
said that "anyone who is caught stealing in Buhari’s government will face the consequences", and that "the current administration has managed the country’s resources better than previous administrations".

But in it's reaction to the subject, the PDP, through it's  National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan deliberately twisted the statement to mean a confession by the Honourable Minister that "the Buhari-led APC administration has been providing official cover for corrupt officials, who have turned government agencies to cash cows and Automated Teller Machines (ATM) for themselves, their cronies, family members and mistresses".

In a direct reaction to this mischievious interpreation by the PDP, the Bridge Builders Initiative For Green Nigeria (BBIGN) has berated the PDP for decending so low to deliberately twist the words of Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi. Rising from its meeting at Enugu, the National Vice President of BBIGN (South East), Hon. Austin Okezie, representing the National President Dr. Emmanuel Chigoziri Orgwu lambasted the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan for such mischief.

“It is a big shame on PDP that the best they can
offer is to always deliberately misinform innocent Nigerians, with the sole aim of deceiving them into believing that they are now a changed
party. By this cowardly acts, PDP as a party has contunously failed woefully in their role to offer a sound opposition to this APC-led government, a totally disappointing development.”

How can a right-thinking person with a conscience try to twist a very clear and innocent statement by the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.

The group said: In the interview, the
Transport Minister made it abundantly clear that anybody who stole under this Buhari-led APC government was likely to be caught and when
that happens, such person(s) would face dire consequences, unlike what obtained under the previous PDP government where stealing was a norm, such that even when people were caught red handed, they would be overlooked without any consequences at all".

The National Vice President of BBIGN (South East) Hon. Austin Okezie further wondered why PDP would continue to take Nigerians for a fool. In his words, "I keep wondering why PDP will keep thinking that we are fools in this country.

A statement that was made with a very
clear meaning even to an elementary school pupil is what the National Publicity Secretary of PDP deliberately twisted, thinking that we Nigerians will fall for such cheap trick. Does anybody need any soothsayer to tell them that the fear of Buhari's anti corruption war has made public office holders under this administration to be very careful with public funds, which was what the Transport Minister meant in his words.

“We have witnessed the largest number of EFCC arrests and prosecution of public officials under this government. And the massive infrastructural projects going on in all parts of this country today is made possible largely because of how prudent the Buhari-led government has been in managing the little resources available to this government.”

“We are simply advising the PDP to try to provide meaninful opposition to the ruling APC. We are almost tilting towards a one-party system in this country, going by the abysmal performance of the PDP in doing what opposition parties are meant to do. PDP should simply change this their crude tactics of deliberately misinforming Nigerians on every issue in this country. By this their dirty approach, Nigerians are becoming more weary of them, thinking that these set of people will even steal this country to death, more than they did in the 16 years they held sway, a situation which has made most of their top leaders to be jumping the
sinking PDP ship, and joining forces with the Buhari-led APC which they know is truly puting Nigeria on the right track".

Speaking through the National Vice President (South East), the group further warned PDP to stay off the Honourable Minsiter of Transport, and jettison their dirty and crude opposition approach. According to Hon. Austin Okezie, "we are warning PDP to stay off His Excellency, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, the Honourable Minsiter of Transportation. It is very clear to all in this country today that Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi is
a shining star of this administration, as shown in the wonderful works the whole country is witnessing in the transportation sector.

“These works manifest boldly in the area of the improved marine transport security and then the transformational railway projects which have taken Nigeria to enviable heights. Our able President Buhari truly knew what he was doing when he twice appointed Rt. Hon Amaechi to spearhead this critical sector of our country. PDP and their cohorts should have known by now that the Honourable Minister of Transportation is a child of destiny who has always prevailed even when so many naysayers have put up all efforts to bring him down.

“This time again, none of the antics of the PDP or their agents anywhere will have any adverse effect on His Excellency, Chibuike Amaechi. God
has persistently watched his back, as he continues to discharge his duties commendably, living up to the trust placed on him by his amiable boss President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians".
