Since the news broke that the Ogun State Executive Council under the leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR has assented to the recommendation of Chief Lukman Kuoye as the Oba-elect as the next Olu Imasayi in Yewa North Local Government Area, it has been jubilation galore and carnival like celebration.

The Olu Imasayi stool bacme vacant in June 2020 when the 15th Olu of Imasayi, Oba Gbadebo Olusola Oni joined his ancestors.












To ensure the leadership vacuum created by the late 77years old Oba Oni does not get protracted, the traditional council of Imasayi promptly started the process of selecting new traditional ruler for the ancient town.

Speaking with our correspondent in an exclusive chat, a member of Imasayi Traditional Council explains that "there are two ruling houses in Imasayi, The Oyesokun Ruling House and Aribio Ruling House." 

The Imasayi high Chief went further to state that the next ruling house to present the new Kabiyesi is Oyesonkun Ruling House, this he said is in tandem with the provision of Imasayi Chieftaincy Declaration.


"The Oyèsokùn Ruling House has eleven family branches namely, Olude, Kuoye, Adeniyi, Adenle, Afunku, Adeyale, Olugbeju, Obabiyi, Oniyide, Kalukuona and Adekunte among whom the new king is to emerge from."


Thanking every stakeholders who made the selection of the 51year old Lukmon Olalekan Kuoye an itch-free, another senior citizen of Imasayi narrated how all eleven eligible families of Oyèsokùn Ruling House were all given a fair and level playing ground to participate in the selection process which see 9 of the family clans endorsing Kuoye's nomination and subsequent appointment approval by the State Executive Council.

"Nine out of eleven families of Oyèsokùn Ruling House voted in support of our new Kabiyesi with further ratification by the Traditional Council Members. These process was witnessed by officials of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Subsequently, the ministry of Justice was informed about this process to confirm that every process was in line with the Imasayi Chieftaincy Declaration of 1957 and Ogun State Chiefs Law 2005." 

Olu Imasayi elect until selection and appointment work as Manager at National Identity Management Commission, NIMC. An erudite administrator of repute who had served in various capacities as Secretary and Vice-chairman (Transition Committee) of Ado-Odo/Ota local government 2006-2007, he also served as Governor's Liaison Officer to former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel between 2008-2011.


A Masters  degree holder (Social Work) from Lagos State University. Oba Kuoye is a member of several professional bodies and NGOs. A community leader per excellence who has attended several trainings and workshops within and outside Nigeria.
