Ogun State House of Assembly today considered a petition on a landed property situated at Block 47, Plot 8, Olusegun Obasanjo Hilltop GRA Layout, Abeokuta with a stern warning to land grabbers to stay away from the said property and any other parts of the State as the Assembly will not condone any criminal acts including land grabbing activities.
This was just as the Assembly equally sounded a note of warning to one Mr. Kingsley Sholola, who claimed to be the Managing Director of Wababox International Company and his associates to stay clear of the said parcel of land as he did not possess a Power of Attorney or valid document by any government agency to lay claim to its ownership.
The Assembly through its Committee on Lands and Housing led by Hon. Damilola Soneye, issued the warning during a meeting with concerned parties on the property and representatives of the State Bureau of Lands and Survey led by the Senior Special Assistant, Lands (Legal), Barr. Emmanuel Akande at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, shortly after Mr. Sholola signed an undertaking to stay away from the property.
The Committee Chairman in company of Honourables Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye and Kunle Sobunkanla, noted that it remained the sole responsibility of government through the appropriate agency to authenticate the rightful owner of any landed property through the issuance of title documents, hence whosoever disturbs the operation and development activities of the rightful owner would be regarded and treated as land grabbers with necessary actions taken against him/her as spelt out in the State Anti-land Grabbing Law, 2016.
The Committee members stressed that those who had contrary evidence aside the Cof O issued on the said land to one Dr. Lateef Odekunle should approach the court of law for redress.
In his remark, Barr. Akande said that the Bureau upon its necessary verification discovered that the landed property, which was within government acquisition was allotted to Prof. Segun Awonusi, (with C of O ) who later assigned it to Dr. Odekunle, who is now the rightful owner of the landed property.
Akande thereafter sought for the immediate formation of the Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force to address the volume petitions on the illegal activities of land grabbers in some communities across the State, with a view to sustaining an orderly society devoid of illegal possession of land.
In his response, Sholola stated that he was not the owner of the said land and did not have any vested interest on it, but was merely speaking on behalf of the members of the Community though with no official document to back up his claims.
