Social Welfare Officers in Ogun State have been charged on the need to respond rapidly, as well as manage Gender Based Violence as soon as they come across such within the State.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Funmi Eduwape gave this charge during a 3-Day training on "Rapid Response/Management of Gender Based Violence Occurrence in The State for Social Welfare Officers" held at Women Development Center, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.

Represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Oladapo-Adeleye, Efuwape encouraged the officers  to play their roles in combating the menace of gender based violence, saying that despite many positive and significant achievements made by women, gender based violence remained a wide spread problem.

In her words, "the State government is head bent in the elimination of all forms of violence in the State, as the State has zero tolerance to gender based violence’’, adding that gender equality is the foundation for a peaceful and sustainable world.
