The concerned Nurses under the aegies of 'Elegant Nurses Forum' in Ogun State has decried malreatment by the management of the teaching hospital, The nurses protested against the illegal sacking of its members; Prince Ovwiomodiowho and Mrs Ajibola Aishat for what they tagged “Victimisation of innocent staffers”.

Ovwiomodiowho is an anesthesia Nurse while Ajibola Aishat is a registered Nurse who has worked for OOUTH for 15 years.

Prince was to be sacked following his decision to stay away from work for three days during a strike by Nigeria Labour Congress and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives.

Ajibola’s crime dwelled on her stand against unmerited punishments, injustice and systemic corruption.

At the Protest, the nurses accused the management of the hospital of victimising the innocent staff.

The Nurse added the hospital is run with palpable authoritarianism that hooked the staff to be afraid of speaking out against the poor leadership.

According to the Coordinator of Elegant Forum Nurses,Thomas Abiodun, the nurses are appealing to the Governor of Ogun State to intervene and ensure re-instatement of the suspended nurses.

“We are pleading to the State Government,in particular, the governor of Ogun,Mr Dapo Abiodun; for intervention.

“We all know the effect of the pandemic on everyone of us.These are Nurses that have many people depending on them.We want them (the nurses)to re-instated into the service,”She said.
The Protesters also accused the Chief Medical Director of OOUTH,Dr Peter Adefuye, of favouritism.

Adefuye was accused of promoting a staff twice within a year and ignored other staff members.

“Mrs Kikelomo Enaholo,ADNS/DDNS was promoted twice within a year while most of the other senior staff members(Nurses & Administrative Staff) have seen stagnant in their current positions since 2009, a pitiable condition for those even with higher qualifications,”they said.

All the attempts to reach CMD of the hospital proves abortive as he refused to pick his calls.

Meanwhile, the Protesters urged the Ogun State wage in and stop the management of OOUTH from running the hospital as a family business.
