Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta will on Saturday 10th of October, 2020 join the rest of the World to celebrate the World Mental Health Day.

The World Health Organization has set aside this day every year to provide opportunity to raise mental health awareness and to help people with mental illness to live better lives with dignity.

According to the press statement signed by Abiola Ajibola,Public Relations Officer, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta, The theme for this year World Mental Health Day is “Mental Health For All: Greater Investment - Greater Access” and the day provides the opportunity for Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, the foremost Psychiatric Hospital in Nigeria to raise awareness on Mental Health Issues and how the hospital had mobilized resources over the years to provide greater access to mental health care delivery in the hospital, community and on the international scene.

The activities lined up by the Hospital to celebrate the day, include:

A Virtual Press Conference which will be addressed by Dr Agboola, Afis Akanni, the Provost and Medical Director of the Hospital. The focus of the Press Conference will be the activities of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro in the Provision of community mental health services in Ogun State and her contribution to mental health care delivery in the country. 

Dr. Amosu, Sunday M., a Consultant Psychiatrist & Consultant in charge of the Lantoro Annex of the hospital shall deliver a lecture on the topic “Mental Health For All: Greater Investment – Greater Access.” at the event.

The major highlight of this year’s celebration of World Mental Health Day by the Hospital will be the discussion on the roll-out and development of Aro Primary Care Mental Health Programme for Ogun State and the speaker on the discussion is Mrs. Olopade, Modupe O, Chief Nursing Officer & Aro Primary Care Mental Health Field Nurse Supervisor.
