Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has said that the stimulus package being distributed across the State for the poor, vulnerable and the aged were not to be shared on Community Development Council’s (CDC) basis, but mainly for the targeted citizens of the State.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele, who cleared the air while speaking to journalists as against rumours making the rounds that two bags of the package were given to a whole community of about 50 houses, said the relief materials consist of 5kg of Rice, Beans, Garri, Tomato paste, sachet oil and seasoning cubes.

Presenting the packages on behalf of the State  government to each benefactors of Jibowu Estate, in Obafemi Owode and people of Oluwo village, Orile-Oko in Remo North Local Government areas of the State, she said government  would always ensure that the relief materials get to the targeted citizens.

"There is misunderstanding in the distribution in some Local Government areas by some of the CDCs that the relief packages where to be shared on CDC basis.  We know that CDC is not based along poor and vulnerable but there are some CDCs where residents are potential donor to the scheme and they are not qualified to get the relief materials.

"What we have said is that the CDCs should identify the poor and vulnerable in their societies, not as a sharing formula or mechanism and I think that misunderstanding led to fake broadcast on social media", she said.
The Deputy Governor noted that the package was not a reward for voting but to help the poor during the lockdown, saying ‘’the reward for voting is good governance which the present administration is showing to the citizens of the state, which also include the stimulus package being distributed to provide succour to the masses’’.

She also reiterated that the State Government would be producing at least 500,000 packs based on the population of the State, hinting that government had set up a committee headed by each Local Government Chairman and other stakeholders, to reflect the composition of the society, especially in the distribution of the food relief.
