Kidnappers, ritualists caught in the act in Abuja

Luck on Tuesday afternoon ran out for two suspected kidnappers and ritualists in the satellite town of Jiwa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja.
The first was a man, who has been camouflaging as a mad woman and living inside a bush opposite a newly completed but yet to be commissioned Jiwa primary healthcare centre.
Trouble started for him around 1.30p.m on Tuesday when he tried to drag a small girl selling roasted fish into his hideout.
The girl continued to shout for help as the man was dragging her into the bush.
Passersby, motor cyclists and members of the vigilantee group in the area, who heard the shout for help and noticed what was going on, came to the girl's rescue.
The girl was rescued while the residents of the area that immediately gathered at the scene were prevented from beating the man when they found some ritualist materials at his hideout.
Eyewitnesses at the scene disclosed that items found at his hideout in the bush included human hair scattered around the area, different types and sizes of underwears, dresses and slippers and shoes littering the place.
While there was a mini well, believed to be used for caging and slaughtering new victims, the area was also littered with blood stained clothes oozing out foul smell in the environment.
Human blood was also found in jerrycans and human intestine in bags.
Giant lizards and giant frogs were also discovered at the scene.
Also at the scene were large sum of N1,000 notes, many POS cash withdrawal printouts and telephone sim cards numbering over 100.
Also found at the hideout are some charged telephone sets and solar chargers.
An eye witness at the scene disclosed that a small girl aged around three years living close to a white house in Jiwa has been missing in the past twelve days before luck ran out for the suspected ritualist.
Other eyewitnesses also disclosed that many expensive cars were always seen parked close to the bush most nights.
One of the eyewitness, shocked by the incident, said "We have been having many complains of missing children here and we thank God that these evil people are been exposed."
Another older woman dressed like mad woman was also said to have been apprehended in the area almost immediately the man was arrested.
She was said to be caught with a small child in a bag.
The two of them were arrested and taken to the Police Station in Gwagwa, Abuja.
But this reporter was however not allowed to see the two ritualist suspects and the ritualist materials taken from the scene to the Police Station.
The policeman at the gate said that they will be taken to the FCT Police Command and journalists would be invited at the appropriate time.
The scene of the incident has, however, suddenly turned to a tourist centre many hours after the arrests were made as residents continued to troop to the bush, group after group, to have a glimpse of the evil that was taking place in their environment.
