Police Arrest 53-Years Old Kidnapper, Ritualist For Pretending To Be Man Of God In Ibadan

A 53 years old man suspected to be a kidnapper and ritualist, Alhaji Akeem who usually disguises as a Man of God to operate and dupe people was on Sunday, September 15 apprehended by the residents of Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The suspect who was said to have been using charms to dupe people over the years had been monitoring by some youths and OPC team.

Based on reliable information available to the surveillants, they stormed Akeem's house and found some charms,women's pants and twenty one women who had been in his captivity for some months ago.

It was however gathered that the suspected kidnapper and ritualist was exposed and arrested with the help of energetic youths and taken to the palace of Onjo of Okeho, Oba Rafiu Osuolale by a good Samaritan, Fadilat Sheikh Ashinsoloriro whom according to the people had once upon a time chased the suspect from Iseyin Local Government after duping many people and used them for rituals.

An eyewitness, Iroko Michael, said the angry mob descended on him and beat him to coma,saying the timely intervention of the security operatives in the area saved him from being set ablaze by the irate mob.

Michael said some charms and ritual substances were also found in the suspect's bag and explained that Akeem was caught in the morning at Aburi, Ajegunle area, along Isemi-Ile-Okeho road in a two story building beside Al-balagh Model N/P School, Isia, Okeho by some OPC men and residents who had been monitoring his movement for the past two weeks.

He said the policy intervention saved him from being set ablaze at Onjo's palace,adding that after waiting for several hours for police and the king to release the suspect, the youths became so angry and began to rain stones on Onjo's palace roof and shelled the gate while the police were shooting sporadically on air in order to scare people away.

Presently, the suspect is in Iganna police command in Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect,the Divisional Police Officer(DPO),said the man was accused to have denied the allegations levelled against him when he was apprehended.

The Area Command however said that the man had been arrested and still in police custody for further investigation.
