as the Muslims celebrate Eid -el - Fitri on Tuesday ( today ) , Hon. Rotimi Makinde has urged them to love one another and pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
The ex lawmaker , who regretted that the country was now more divided along religious and ethnic lines than ever before, called on Nigerians to jettison hate speeches that tended to threaten the age -long love , unity and peaceful co - existence of the people of the country .
He noted that the “ Eid -el - Fitri offers our Muslim brothers and sisters yet another opportunity to deepen their relationship with Allah , promote a life of sacrifice, charity and love as exemplified by Prophet Mohammed .
However, he called for a united and peaceful Nigeria irrespective of religious and political difference as Muslims celebrate Eid - El - Fitri today .
“I enjoin you to use the period to uphold the spiritual benefit of the celebration by extending a hand of friendship and solidarity across all divides and imbibing the spirit of sacrifice and obedience to the higher authority as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammed ,” Hon. Rotimi Makinde said.
Also, He urged Muslims to embrace religious tolerance which would promote peace across the country and enhance national development.
He assured the Muslim community in Osun State that his political movement would continue to partner with them to move the state forward .
