Domestic violence is any form of a violent act by one person on another in a domestic setting. The key word being domestic. This means that violence in itself outside a domestic setting no matter the nature of it, cannot be tagged as domestic violence.
Domestic violence occurs with a familiar person who is a family member, wife, husband or father to you. Although most cases are suffered by women there are some cases of men suffering from domestic violence.
It is the greatest form of breach of trust. When you go on the altar or to court or anywhere you get married, you make promises, there are vows, even if you didn't say them out or agree to them, as long as you got married to that person you entered into a contract and an agreement to love and protect them for as long as you are together.

Violating that trust has become so rampant now that it's seen as normal. People see you as a weakling if your wife talks back at you and you don't hit her, or if she hits you and you don't beat her up.
Most men are perpetrators of this violence, they assault their wife's regularly, and they assault them physically, sexually, verbally and in other ways. They do it and they are protected by the covering of being a man, the woman is supposed to be submissive. When that was said they also asked men to protect their wife's and children.

It is not proof of your strength when you inflict any form of violence on a woman, it is a weakness.
In Nigeria, over 60 percent of our homes have some form of domestic violence, and these women cannot speak up most times because there is no form of legal protection for them, if they complain people would say it's your husband, they didn't force you so manage what you chose.
Domestic violence comes in various forms and sizes and whether or not it is huge, no person deserves violence irrespective of what they do or what they say.
