Anthony Joshua net worth: Predicted wealth of boxing star

Joshua, 29, is one of the biggest superstars in world boxing right now and potentially still has his best years ahead of him.

He entered the sport in 2007, aged 18, after his cousin urged him to take it up.

And it was not long before he made a name for himself in the amateur ranks, winning a silver medal at the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships before picking up a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

AJ then turned professional in 2013, knocking out Emanuelue Leo on his debut at the O2 Arena, and six years later he finds himself at the very top of the sport.

His biggest night came in an epic battle with former heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley in April 2017, which saw both men hit the canvas before Joshua came through with the stoppage in round 11.

It is believed Joshua took home around £15m for his part in one of the greatest heavyweight encounters ever seen on British soil.

Since his defining clash with Klitschko, Joshua has regularly sold out stadiums in victories over the likes of Joseph Parker, Carlos Takam and Alexander Povetkin.

And Forbes claim the Watford man is now worth a whopping £30m.

That figure made Joshua the 25th highest-paid athlete of 2018, sitting ahead of golf star Rory McIlroy and Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale.

Around £25m of his net worth is his salary, with another £5m coming from endorsements.

And Starsport understand Joshua is set to pocket another £18m when he locks horns with Ruiz at Madison Square Garden tonight.

He is the big favourite to retain his WBA ‘Super’, IBF and WBO heavyweight straps against the Mexican-American.

Ruiz, 29, was brought in to face AJ at the last minute after former opponent Jarrell Miller failed three drug tests.

Certain reports suggest Joshua’s fight purse has taken a hit because of the Miller scandal.

The Brit is due to make his US debut at around 4:30am BST.
