People all over the world especially Christians agree that life is sacred.

Hence, believers  would consider murder or suicide a grievous tragedy as it takes away hope and ultimately ends life.

The 6th commandments in the decagogue, God expressly commands, "Thou shall not kill.

Exodus 20: 13

It therefore means that when someone takes his or her life, it is seen as an unforgivable sin.

This perception arises because many are of the opinion that a suicide victim didn't have a chance to repent.

Moreover, even a greater percentage of people believe that a particular sin - especially the one that was done just before  could seal their fate as regards where they will spend eternity.

Say, if they were good believers all their life and did one bad thing just before they died, they have lost their salvation.

However, the consistent message in scripture in the bible is that once you become a believer, your sins - past, present and future.

Ephesians 1:7

For emphasis sakes, once saved, forever saved.

Whether he commit suicide or not, he is still a believer.

As Suicide trend continues to take over Nigeria, it has been met with a lot controversy.

Some of the angles as regards Christianity has range from should suicide victims be judged, what is the best approach as believers and the most prominent one;  will  a believer who commits suicide make heaven?

Going by this scriptures, the answer is an emphatic YES!

Please hear me when I say, suicide is not an option.

There are much better ways to deal with life's problems.

I hope and pray that people who consider suicide as an option would continue to look at other, more positive options.

Suicide is certainly a sin. This is because it robs a person of the sanctity of life and the full time given to them by God alone.

However, the tough question is what  happens to people who commit suicide?

Family and friends of a believer who has committed suicide should never worry about whether their loved one is in heaven.

Thankfully, even suicide is not greater than the body and blood of Jesus—broken and shed for the forgiveness of all our sins.

First, there is no place in the bible where punishment for suicide is discussed. But there are several scripture passages that can help us understand the eternal nature of our relationship with God:

"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

Now notice that, repentance itself does not seal us into the heavenly kingdom.

The Holy Spirit has given us such a seal (Eph. 1:13, 4:30).

Although confessing our sins before God does increase our fellowship with him, it does not seal us any more than we have already been by the blood of the lamb.

Hence, suicide cannot take it away

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Scripture assures us that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord – 

It emphasizes, "neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing" (Romans 8:38, 39)

Additionally, who will really have the time to confess every single sin before we die?

Some of us will die instantly, without warning.

Others may slowly die, but even then—after we confess as many sins as we can think of—there are still sins that we have committed against God and our neighbor that we aren’t even aware of!

So the usual reason given for suicide being an unforgivable sin doesn’t seem to hold up to the Bible or life experiences.
